A new record from data released by Terna SpA: in Italy, renewables met 52.5% of electricity demand in May!

A noteworthy point is the growth in contributions from hydropower (+34.7%), photovoltaics (+36.3%), and wind power (+10.5%).

The increase in photovoltaics (+1,062 GWh) is driven by both the rise in capacity in operation (+669 GWh) and higher irradiation (+393 GWh).

Last but not least… since the beginning of 2024, coal’s contribution has remained below 2% of national needs.
