The Australian government has approved the over $30 billion AAPower Link project, which is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy and storage plant.
The federal government’s green light allows for the construction of up to 10 GW of photovoltaics and 42 GWh of battery storage capacity on a 12 thousand hectare site in Powell Creek.
The project will begin with an initial 800-km link from the plant site near Powell Creek in the Northern Territory to Darwin on the North Coast, where new green industries are expected to be established in the Middle Harbour area and supplied with energy.
In a later stage of development, the AAPowerLink project aims to supply up to 6 GW of green electricity around the clock to large industrial clients in both Darwin and Singapore.
